(Seismic) waving from New Mexico
Jun. 08, 2023
Niah Tyler '24 is in New Mexico on the RESESS (Research Experiences in Solid Earth Science for Students) program. Here, Niah swings a sledgehammer to create seismic waves, which are picked up by the orange geophones (seismic receivers) in an effort to locate subsurface faults. This type of geophysical exploration is one of several that are typically used to image the subsurface.
